There seems to be a Chinatown in every country in the world and one of the nicest Chinatowns can be found in Bangkok. Chinatown in Bangkok is one of the favorite destinations among locals and foreign tourists alike as it’s a great shopping areas where you could buy a lot of things like clothes, fabrics, accessories, bags, shoes, fresh fruits and more. And aside from shopping, people also flock to Chinatown to eat.
There are so many restaurants to choose from and one of the restaurants on Chinatown that I frequently visit every time I am in Bangkok is The Canton House. I couldn’t remember exactly how I came across this restaurant, I think I saw a write up on a blog or in a magazine and immediately went out to look for this restaurant.
The Canton House in Chinatown is located at 530 Thanon Yaowarat. If you’re coming from Khao San, just take a bus going to Chinatown and you’ll see this on your left side. If you’re coming from Hua Lam Pong, then you’ll have to walk for around 15 minutes to get to The Canton House. Regardless on how you go, you’ll definitely feel that the effort to go to this restaurant is definitely worth it.
Here are some pictures taken on my last visit to The Canton House:
A variety of Dimsums – My favorite is the steamed crab legs
A variety of sauces and condiments – My favorite is the green chilli
Dimsums cost 20 Baht per serving. There are usually 2-3 pieces of dimsums per serving and one for some like the steamed crab legs. There are also other dishes available such as fried rice, a variety of Chinese viands and a lot of seafood choices.
Dining here is indeed simple yet an amazing gastronomic experience that won’t burn a hole in your pocket. Make sure to check it out the next time you go to Chinatown Bangkok.
