Going out at night during travels is very common to have a drink with fellow travellers or friends you meet along the way. The young ones (or young at heart) frequents bars and pubs for a great party. The quiet ones often end up hanging out in coffee shops. Some travellers visit various entertainment centers that are available in a specific destination such as movie houses, night markets, casinos, videoke/karaoke or simply just walking around to see the place at night.

Going out at night is also a great opportunity to sample a variety of local, international or fusion cuisines that are being offered in various restaurants scattered around the city or town.

I frequently go out at night to do the latter, eat, eat and eat.

A night out in Phnom Penh wouldn’t be complete without trying the great food that this city has to offer. Here are some of the places that I dined it that won’t surely break your bank:

The Buffet at Naga World

Nagaworld Buffet

Naga World is one of the few five star hotels in Phnom Penh that offers nightly entertainment. They have live band performances that you can watch for free and they also have a casino. Before or after you indulge yourself in either trying your luck in Party Casino or simply just enjoying listening to the band, check out The Buffet restaurant located at the ground floor. The Buffet offers wide choices of great food which won’t break your bank. This is one of the best places in Phnom Penh to sample a variety of Khmer Foods in one seating.

Shabu-shabu or Hotpot

Hotpot

Shabu-shabu or hotpot is very popular not only in Phnom Penh but also in Siem Reap. There are ‘set” hotpots or “buffet-style” hotpots. There are various restaurants in Phnom Penh where you could try this. I frequently go to Shabu-shabu and Sushi Buffet which you could find in some shopping malls.

Sisowath Quay Restaurants

My Home

For those who love great food and could spend a little more, you could check out various restaurants along Sisowath Quay. One of my favourite is My Home which serves great French-Cambodian food and other fusion. Make sure to ask for their nightly specials. :-)
