Laos is not that known for having plenty of cheap and delicious street foods in comparison to it’s neighboring country, Thailand. But Laos also has its shares of affordable and appetizing street foods to boot and one of those are the baguette sandwiches that you can find being sold in Luang Prabang, Vientiane and Vang Vieng.
Among the baguette sandwiches available, my favorite includes bacon and cheese, omelette and the chicken baguette sandwich. I noticed though that in my travels in Laos, there seem to be different variations of the chicken bauette sandwich.
The Chicken Baguette Sandwiches being sold in Luang Prabang uses a different kind of bread and the chicken that they use is grilled. The Chicken Baguette Sandwiches being sold in Vang Vieng using fried strips of battered chicken, and the baguette they use has crusty outer layer and a bit soft insides. The ones being sold in Vientiane seems to be a smaller version of the baguette sandwiches being sold in Vang Vieng.
Here’s how they usually prepare it in less than 5 minutes:

You can also asked them to put chili sauce or mustard if you like.
It’s a humongous sandwich and definitely a great deal for 10,000 Kip or $1.25. There are a variety of other sandwiches to choose from and price starts at 10,000 Kip.
