Staying connected with our family, friends and love ones are becoming easier and cheaper as days go by as technology becomes more advance and accessible to everyone. Gone are the days of paying an exorbitant amount of money just to be able to make that overseas call. There are even a variety of services that offer free international calling. Gone are the days of waiting days and sometimes even weeks for the snail mail to arrive. With just a click of a button now, we can all talk to our family and friends regardless of where we are in the world.
Here are some four cheap ways of keeping touch while you travel:
1. Social Media
A lot of people have accounts on various social media platforms. It’s so easy to send messages to our family and friends via these websites. You can even share photos and videos. As long as you have an internet access and a wifi enabled device, you can constantly communicate to almost anyone of your list.
2. VOIP
Regardless if your smartphone is using, Android, Symbian, Windows OS, Apple OS or other operating system, you can download various programs that will enable you to call for free (wifi connection needed), send messages, send video and photo messages to the people in your contact list. Alternatively you can also sign up with service providers that offer international calling service.
3. Email
Email is still one of the most popular way of communicating over the internet as its secured and private and will allow you to send huge amount of files as well. If you’re currently traveling and has the need to stay connected with your job then you’ll find yourself using your email every now and then.
4. Blog
If you’re going to travel for a long time and would like to keep everyone you know updated on where you are and what you’re doing then you’ll find a blog very useful. It’s also free if you don’t sign up for your own domain.
