I love Taho. I grew up eating taho almost every day. For those who are not familiar with Taho, it is fresh soft/silken tofu with caramel and sago pearls. Since I left the Philippines a couple of years ago to travel around Asia, I never had a chance to eat taho. Maybe there are also taho in other parts of Southeast Asia but I never had a chance to see one.
Luckily, in my previous trip to Phnom Penh, I saw a vendor selling what seemed to me as Taho.
I immediately walked towards the vendor to looked at what he’s selling and luck was on my side and it was Taho indeed.
The man charged us 2000 Riel ($0.50) for a medium sized cup of Taho. I’m not sure if it’s the standard price though coz i find it a bit expensive. But since I haven’t had Taho for a very long time, I didn’t bother to haggle anymore.
Unlike the ones that were being sold in Manila, the taho didn’t have sago pearls. The caramel also tasted as if it was cooked with ginger which turned out to be a pleasant surprise.
Have you tried eating taho? Feel free to share what you think about this desert.
